Adventure sails in the US Virgin Islands
Our spirit of adventure, love for sailing and seaworthy craft open up all kinds of charter destinations. Fly Girl is a fast and comfortable sailboat which means we can sail far in a day. We are also one of a select group of boats that hold a permit for tours into the Virgin Islands National Park. It is only fitting for a nature tour like ours to work closely with the park and we raise funds for the park every year with our nature seminars.
Most days we like to take it easy. We launch from Cruz Bay, St John and sail through Pillsbury Sound to snorkel a beautiful little cay in the Virgin Islands National Park.
Henley Cay has excellent coral and lots of reef fish. We often see spotted eagle rays, octopus, blue tangs, sergeant major, butterfly fish and magnificent, large parrot fish. There are pillar coral, brain coral and lots of soft corals like sea fans and sea plumes.
For lunch we sometimes tuck into Hawks Nest Bay. This is a pristine, calm bay and a good opportunity to see sea turtles come up for air. It also happens to have one of the most beautiful beaches on St John. This is where Mr. Oppenheimer of Manhattan Project fame (or infamy?) had his vacation home.
After lunch our options are limitless. So many islands so little time! We sometimes sail between Lovango and Congo Cays to a hidden lagoon for more snorkeling and great birding. This is one of the few places you might get a glimpse of a red billed tropic bird. They nest in the rocks on Congo, which is a wildlife sanctuary.
We are happy to take you to locations like Whistling Cay or Trunk Bay, the St James Islands and of course, the British Virgin Islands. Overnight trips to Jost Van Dyke are also available - since no one ever wants to leave anyway!
